Ethiopian Airlines to begin daily non-stop flights to Ethiopia from Washington.nazret.com – According to published route schedules, Ethiopian Airlines will commence daily non-stop flight from Washington Dulles (IAD) to Addis Ababa (ADD), Ethiopia aboard the soon to be acquired Boeing 777-200 LR. The daily non-stop service from Washington to Addis will commence on December 16, 2010.
The flight from Washington Dulles departs at 12:00 noon local time and arrives in Addis Ababa the next morning at 08:28, local time. Total flight time duration is 12 hours and 25 minutes, which slashes overall travel time by 2hrs and 35mins.The return trip from Addis Ababa to Washington Dulles will continue to make a stop in Rome.Ethiopian airlines currently flies the Boeing 767 on its IAD-ADD flight and this will be replaced by the Boeing 777-200LR starting in December.
Ethiopian will be the first African carrier to operate the Boeing 777-200LR.The Boeing 777-200LR is the Long Range version of the wide-body twin-engine jet airliner family, it holds the world record for the longest nonstop flight by a commercial airliner.
Ethiopian airlines has five Boeing 777-200LR in order and expected to receive its first aircraft in November of this year. Ethiopian’s 777-200LRs are configured to carry a total of 321 passengers, 34 in Business Class, and 287 in Economy.
