The much anticipates and Nigeria’s biggest event of the year, Abuja Carnival has started from Saturday November 27, 2010. The opening, declared by President Goodluck Jonathan triggered the massive celebration seen in Nigeria after a long time.
The carnival, expected to revive the tourism as well as culture of Nigeria has proven to be a means of bringing foreign tourists, media and journalists to cover the event. While this encourages reserving flights to Abuja, renting accommodation and thus, generating revenue its also equally a means of publicity for the future of the country. The carnival, now in its sixth year provides a platform and great to the private sector to key into the opportunities presented by the carnival now in its sixth year.
At this occasion, the President, represented by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed called for even more support to make the annual event a global cynosure, He stated:

Shortly after the opening of the National carnival, the air filled up with joy, enthusiasm and exciting 16 mile parade by participating states. The colorful event will also include local dances, music performances and an array of exotic events, foods and activities for all young and old alike.
